2006 MX5 Sport. Base model, I assume. Tell me everything you know about these. Good, bad, ugly. How is NVH with the top up? Any toys or features that most of the reviews don’t cover? How does it compare to am NA6?

I have questions

What is wrong with the NA?
Did you ever go look at C5 corvettes?

This one isn’t that bad but I bet that NC is cheaper.

It shouldn’t be a base model if it has the 6-speed, 17” wheels, and LSD. NC1 bases came with 5-speeds, open diffs, and 16" 5-spoke wheels.

So those wheels mean it has the handling package? Sweet. Has cloth seats tho, it looks like.

According to the FAQ , the 2006 Sport model has these features over the Club Sport (base NC1):

17-inch alloys with 6-speed gearbox standard

Leather-wrapped shift knob added

Front tower bar standard

Run flat tires now optional

Suspension package optional (Bilstein shocks, thicker rear sway bear, and a “Super-LSD”[?])

Apparently leather is only available on the top-of-the-line Grand Touring model! The NC you’re looking it shows the front shock tower bar, which is a pretty clear indication that it is indeed the Jalop-friendly Sport model. I’ve noticed NC owners/sellers usually don’t advertise that tower bar for sale nor do buyers commonly look for it so it’s not commonly swapped around unlike the NB’s bars to NAs (direct bolt-in) and other non-sport NBs.

Tochigi Fuji Super LSD, it’s a clutch-type diff. That said, I don’t care for that unit after seeing NB2 Miatas spit out cone clutch tabs from their Fuji units (fun fact, the Mazdaspeed NB2 uses the older Torsen model).
